Free brekkie puts big smiles on little faces
On Friday, the Foodbank Queensland and Sunny Queen Australia community roadshow arrived in Pittsworth and Millmerran, bringing breakfast, fun, and support to regional schools and families.

The community road-show offered Foodbank Queensland and Sunny Queen Australia a meaningful way to give back to the regional communities surrounding Sunny Queen’s farms.
Around 8am, students at Pittsworth State School arrived at Bottle Tree Hall to enjoy a hearty, nourishing breakfast of eggs and bacon on toast.
Representatives from McLean Farms helped with the food preparation and cooking.
Students also benefited from donations of stationery and craft supplies, collected through a community drive led by Sunny Queen Australia.
Isabelle Dench, Sunny Queen Australia's General Manager Marketing, Innovation and Sustainability, said they were delighted to nourish and support the next generation, combining good food with a generous dose of fun.
An addition to this year's roadshow were lively activities including egg and spoon races, juggling and skipping.
"We are proud to partner with Foodbank Queensland for the roadshow, as they continue their vital food relief work in regional communities,” Ms Dench said.
During the roadshow, Foodbank Queensland members helped to distribute 200 Food for Kids hampers to local families.
Valued at over $50 each, the hampers included pantry staples such as pasta, rice, tuna, pasta sauce, UHT milk, muesli bars and cereal, nutritious essentials that help families during the school holidays when School Breakfast Programs are paused.
“These hampers can make a real difference for families that are facing food insecurity,” Jess Watkinson, CEO of Foodbank Queensland said.
The roadshow visited Millmerran State School later that morning, sharing its mission with students in grades Prep to Year 3.
The 2025 Foodbank Hunger Report revealed that the food insecurity crisis in regional Queensland is worsening, with 24 per cent of households experiencing severe food insecurity in the past year, an increase from 20 per cent the previous year.
This was the fourth year of the Foodbank Queensland and Sunny Queen Australia community roadshow.
The first stop of the roadshow was Grantham State School on Thursday, 20th November.
