Genex to fund Domville Place redevelopment
Genex has unconditionally committed up to $500,000 for the redevelopment of the Domville Place community hub in Millmerran.

The project will provide a green ‘civic place’ linkage to the town centre, with permanent stage structures that can host concerts, community events and the opportunity for public gatherings.
Importantly, the funds are available now to allow the community hub to be constructed once fully approved and are not linked to any future project investment milestones.
Genex’s involvement in the project is part of its broader development of the Bulli Creek Clean Energy Park (Bulli Creek) 45km south-west of Millmerran, which will have a total capacity of 2.5GW and be built over four stages.
Domville Place is a central community precinct located near the library in the centre of Millmerran and is currently underutilised despite its prominent location within the township.
“The redevelopment to transform Domville Place into an attractive and functional parkland that will enhance the township and support local amenity, tourism and broader community activation is very important to Genex,” Genex Chief Executive Craig Francis said,
“The Domville Place hub redevelopment will provide a focal point in Millmerran where families, community groups and tourists can gather and enjoy themselves.
“Importantly it will connect local businesses to tourists who will stop to enjoy the parkland.
“As we progress our Bulli Creek project we also want to be part of delivering practical community benefits that leave a lasting legacy,” Mr Francis said.
The local community organisation, Millmerran Commerce & Progress Inc. (MCPI) has been seeking to develop Domville Place since 2024 and this represents an important partnership for Genex.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald praised the proposed upgrade to Domville Place as a powerful example of community-led investment and collaboration.
“There’s no doubt the upgrade of Domville Place will make a difference for residents and visitors,” Mayor McDonald said.
“The proposed improve-ments, including new pathways, additional trees, a covered picnic area and permanent stage structures will significantly enhance the space for both residents and visitors.
“Genex’s support has been instrumental in bringing this project to life and it highlights what can be achieved when industry, community groups and Council work together for the benefit of the region.”
Genex is currently working alongside MCPI to finalise the detailed design package which will be submitted to Toowoomba Regional Council for approval to facilitate construction, which is expected to commence in 2027.
“This commitment from Genex is a significant step forward for Millmerran,” President of MCPI, Nikki Macqueen, said.
“The Domville Place redevelopment has been a long-term vision for our organisation and community, and it’s exciting to see it moving closer to becoming a vibrant, welcoming space for everyone.
“Transforming Domville Place into a central hub for events, gatherings and visitors will breathe new life into our town centre and create opportunities for local businesses to thrive.
“There’s no doubt the upgrade of Domville Place will make a difference for residents and visitors, with the building of pathways, the addition of trees and a covered picnic area as well as the permanent stage structures.
“Genex’s funding is bringing this project to life for our community,” she said.
The company is also engaged with civil contractors with local content priorities for the development and construction of the redevelopment.
