Renee Graham is surprised by a cake and banner made by her supporters on her return from New Zealand.

Renee travelled to Rotorua, New Zealand, for 3 days of competition after winning her 35 to 39 age group in the Queensland state final for ‘Crossfit’ in August.

Each Australian state and New Zealand had two entrants for each of the six segments, which involved workout combinations and a swim and run segment.

Renee won three of the four workouts before finishing in the top five for the swimming and running segments.

Despite leading her category right from the start, Renee described the competition as a ‘tough gig’ leaving little room for error.

Thrilled with her win, Renee’s trophy belt is on display in her Cherry Street gym.

With next year’s national championships to be held in Sydney, Renee intends to compete again.

Renee thanked Oakey residents for contributing financially to help her cover costs, and her husband Terry who was “the best supporter” (Renee’s words) at the Rotorua Energy Centre.

“(I provided) loud vocal support - very proud of her,” husband Terry said.

“She’s been training hard and has put in ten months of preparation.”
