Government seeking input on New England Highway
The Queensland Government is inviting the community to have its say on the future of the New England Highway between Cambooya Connection Road and Greenmount Connection Road.
Assistant Regional Roads Minister Bruce Saunders said the planning project would investigate future infrastructure requirements, such as widening the highway for wide centre lines and additional overtaking lanes.
“We are inviting residents and road users to voice any issues about the highway including potential safety and efficiency improvements,” Mr Saunders said.
“Options for improving this 6.8-kilometre section of the New England Highway will be shared with local property owners as part of building a business case for future infrastructure upgrades.
“We will look at potential safety enhancements, reviewing
the intersection with Greenmount-Etonvale Road and upgrading the culvert at Emu Creek.”
Mr Saunders said issues such as the road condition and
width, a lack of overtaking opportunities, intersection locations and configurations, and Emu Creek culvert’s susceptibility to extreme floods will be on the agenda.
“Now we’re looking forward to hearing from the community on what they want done,” Mr Saunders said.
Visits will take place with nearby property owners most likely to be affected by the planning project over coming months.
This project is funded by the Queensland Government.
