Grant serves up new equipment
The Allora Tennis Club was super excited to receive a grant of $3,000 for new sports equipment including table tennis, pickleball gear and new tennis racquets through the Australian Sports Foundation - Active Kids Grant.

MANDY MUTCH STANDS DOWN AFTER 10 YEARS
Mandy has been a popular and active President of the club but she believes it is now time to step down.
During Mandy’s time at the Club she has been a very active and successful grant writer securing over $500,000 of funding to complete several works including club maintenance, build a new shed, paint, mower, concrete paths, all New Court Surfaces, nets, poles and fencing, new lights, electrical and plumbing work, rain water tanks, toilets and new Pickleball Court. And, most recently the grant for $3,000 for new equipment.
The tennis journey of Mandy began at the Allora Tennis Club in 2016 when she took over the administration responsibilities from the late Phil Higgins, someone she admired greatly for his contributions to community and supporting children both at school and in sport.
Mandy soon started a junior community tennis group at the Allora Tennis Club, based on fun and fitness with her PE experience from her school teaching. She also started Social Fun Nights and later coordinated very successful district tennis tournaments that should be back on track after enduring floods, Covid and new court construction.
Affiliated with Tennis Queensland for support and training where over the years Mandy qualified as a Community Coaching, Sporting Schools Coach, Court Official and a Junior Development Coach with a Certificate in Sports Coaching.
Mandy also managed school tennis teams, ran social nights and pilot programs such as Get Your Racquet On and Teenage Team Tennis as well as coaching children in several schools around the district.
In 2019 Mandy was nominated and the successful winner of Volunteer of the Year at the Queensland Tennis Awards. In 2024 the Allora Tennis Club was a finalist at the Queensland Tennis Awards for Most Outstanding Club, something she is very proud of as Allora truly is the best little town on the downs!
Mandy has thoroughly enjoyed her time at the Allora Tennis Club working with community and building friendships but as she steps down, introduces the new Coach and Club President Dean Stansell. Mandy wishes Dean the absolute best in taking the club to the next level and won’t be too far away to still offer her support.
Dean has a very strong background in tennis and his success will be the Club’s reward.
