Greenmount girls making waves on sporting fields
There must be something special in the water at Greenmount because two of the town’s young girls are turning in dazzling performances in two totally unrelated sports.

Despite its modest size, Greenmount boasts impressive sporting spirit and this year that is embodied by Greenmount residents and former Greenmount State School students, Paige Priebbenow and Brooklyn Frappell.
Paige, 13, now attends St. Ursula’s College and Brooklyn, 12, is at The Glennie School in Toowoomba.
Both girls showed talent in the pool when they were selected to represent the Darling Downs at the Queensland State Swimming Championships.
However, the girls’ sporting ability is not limited to the pool as they both excel in a totally unrelated sport in netball.
Paige has been selected to represent St. Ursula’s College in the Toowoomba Netball Association’s Newtown Cup where she will come up against her old school mate Brooklyn who will represent The Glennie School in the spirited annual competition between the two schools.
Just to spice up the old friendship will be the fact that Paige as Goalkeeper will be marking Brooklyn who will play Goal Shooter.
This should make for an interesting afternoon and as Brooklyn said, “It’s great that I can share this experience with Paige, no matter what the outcome.”
The Greenmount talent extends to Paige’s older sister and talented netballer, Taylah Priebbenow, who will lace up for a St. Ursula’s College Senior team.
The 2025 Newtown Cup will take place at The Glennie School Sports centre, Vacy Street, Toowoomba on Friday 15 August from 4.30 pm. Good luck girls.
