Hard dose of reality for P-Plater
A hefty fine and six month suspension of licence will give a 17-years-old youth a lot to think about after police intercepted his vehicle travelling nearly 50km/h over the speed limit at Preston.

Last Friday, officers from Toowoomba Highway Patrol Unit charged the boy following the intercept at Preston on Thursday, 4 December.
It will be alleged that, at around 1.30pm, police intercepted a 2008 Mazda 3 after it was observed travelling at 127km/h in an 80km/h zone on Preston Boundary Road.
The teenager was issued a Traffic Infringement Notice (TIN) for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h resulting in a $1919 fine, the loss of eight demerit points and a six-months licence suspension.
Body camera footage released by police reveals reality sinking in for the driver after a police officer tells him how fast he was driving.
“Is that loss of licence?” he asks the police officer.
“I just got my Ps today and I have made a grave mistake already.”
Police are urging motorists to drive with care, even on rural and remote roads.
Officers can be anywhere at any time conducting proactive patrols to reduce road trauma.
