Heavy rainfall across region last week
Greenmount, Wyreema, Cambooya and Hodgson Vale, like much of the Toowoomba region were drenched last week in some welcome rainfall.
Rain fell from Monday to Friday in most parts, but the real deluge came on Thursday.
Wyreema recorded 32.00mm on Thursday, Greenmount 37.34mm, Cambooya 24.00mm and Westbrook 25.4mm.
The Thursday rainfall was accompanied by showers throughout the week.
On Friday between Hodgson Vale, Cambooya and Wyreema we saw between 2mm and 10mm.
Monday was the next wettest day with Wyreema seeing 3.30mm shower to start the week.
Damaging winds accompanied the rain with branches down across the area.
In Wyreema on Thursday wind gusts of up to 52.94km/hr were recorded, similar to Greenmount recording 46.83km/hr winds on the same day.
Friday didn’t see much of a reprieve from the wind as at Greenmount on Friday, winds were still up around 38.9km/hr.
The rain was welcome for the region, which has been seeing below average rainfalls for about a year.
Alongside reports of an El Niño forming and a hot, dry year to come, the rainfall was a blessing for many.
