Huge turnout for Army Museum Open Day
Well over a thousand people attended the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the Australian Army at the Australian Army Flying Museum on Saturday.

In what was expected to be the largest Army Open Day ever hosted, Defence bases across the nation opened their gates, offering visitors the opportunity to connect with soldiers, learn about Army capabilities, and celebrate 125 years of service to the nation.
Open Day activities such as Virtual Reality training headsets highlighted the modern Army’s capabilities.
Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, AO, DSC said that ‘Army 125 Open Day’ was a celebration of Defence personnel, past, present and future, and the enduring contribution they make to Australia.
“These events provide Australians with a unique opportunity to witness the professionalism, dedication and adaptability of their Army, and to learn more about the meaningful roles our personnel perform every day in service to the nation,” he said.
“We are proud to open our gates and share our story with the Australian public.”
In a slight disappointment to attendees, the Oakey base was not opened to members of the public, and aircraft displays were purely static.
