Inaugural Hall queen returns after 70 years to help save building

70 years after she raised the most money in a fundraising contest to help build the Kingsthorpe War Memorial Hall, Kingsthorpe local Fay Suley is doing her bit to help save the town's only public building.

ABOVE: Fay Suley donated the quilt, pictured behind her and she’s hoping it will raise at least $1000. If it does, Fay will donate another stump for the hall. She’s holding the rose bowl presented to her at the opening of the hall and the key attached to Fay’s top in this photo, was used by her to open the hall on 9th July, 1956. Gwen Sloss and Forna Jannusch also received rose bowls.
