Is this the worst road in town?

Some residents in Evans Street believe their road (pictured below) might just be the worst in all of Pittsworth’s township. It’s easy to see why when you catch sight of the street, especially in wet conditions.

Minor roadworks have been completed in Evans Street in the past but the road has not been reconstructed which it desperately needs.

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) recently finished resurfacing Colbar Street, Sullivan Crescent and Hain Close, under its annual Asphalt Overlay Program.

However, the original state of these streets appeared to be in good condition compared to Evans Street which remains untouched.

According to Toowoomba Regional Council Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokes-person, Carol Taylor, the surfaces of these roads were at the end of their life.

“[They] were identified for resurfacing before major repair works would be required,” she explained.

Cr. Taylor said Council has identified Evans Street as needing reconstruction, and it will be considered for inclusion in a future capital program.
