It’s All About Christmas
It was all about Christmas at the Oakey Cultural Centre recently, when Oakey Academy of Dance (OAD) wowed the full house with many exciting Christmas dance items.

Girls and boys aged between 3 and 17, took to the stage and shone like Christmas stars.
The dancers, dressed as Santa’s toys came to life and stole the hearts of the audience, with some of these little people taking to the stage for the first time.
Rapping Reindeer, Gingerbread Girls and Boys, shiny Christmas Bells and the characters from Home Alone hip-hopped and danced their hearts out.
Delightful Christmas treats, Santa’s busy Toy Shop and sparkly Christmas Decorations came to life in beautiful snowy, white scenes, entertaining family and community members in both matinee and evening performances.
This year, many OAD students were successful in passing their Royal Academy of Dance Grade and Vocational Examinations, achieving the exceptional results of High Merits and Distinctions.
Next year, 2026 is set to be an exciting year for OAD, which will be celebrating 50 years of dance in Oakey.
In 1976, Miss Debbie Head (now Noller) opened her ballet school, Oakey School of Dance, with Trudy Williamson (present Principal) being one of her first students.
It is with pride that Trudy and her team of wonderful Teachers will present “50 Years of Dance” in their annual concert next year.
