Ladies shine as Cowboys down Bears
Last Saturday night’s game may have seen the Oakey Bears go down, but the spotlight was shone on the ladies who make up the heartbeat of the club.

A GRADE
Warwick Cowboys 40 (Dylan Riley 2, Siki Konden 2, Nicholas Halalilo, Ben Howard, Samuel Inoke tries; Ono So’oalo 6 goals); Oakey Bears 20 (Gerome Burns 4 tries; Dwayne Duncan 2 goals)
This match was a tale of two halves. After trailing 24-0, Oakey turned the match around providing some much needed cheer for the ladies watching from the Ladies Day marquees at the northern end of Trevor Mickelborough Oval.
In the second half, Gerome Burns scored an incredible four tries for the Bears.
“Warwick are a quality side,” Burns told Power FM after the match.
“The ladies behind us getting around us. They really pushed us home.
“We wanted to run home to them and luckily enough we scored a few points.
“I got lucky popping up in a couple of spots. I’m just lucky to have boys like Dwayne around to give me the ball in the right places.”
After losing to the top two sides Dalby and Warwick, the Bears have dropped back to 8th on the A Grade ladder.
They will face 6th-placed Souths away on Saturday night.
