Warwick Cowboys scored in the last minute of play to defeat Oakey away on Sunday afternoon 34-32.
It was amazing match, with both sides not giving an inch. Warwick certainly started the better and led 10-0 after 10 minutes.
In a physical match, Oakey hung in. Ash Taylor did not start the match for the Bears but made his impact when he set up Joey Alberts for the first two of his four tries to get the Bears to 8-10 after 23 minutes.
The physical nature of the game continued and a turning point was when Ben Sullivan grabbed a one-on-one strip to score and get the Cowboys to a 22-8 half time lead.
Warwick was good early in the second half when Captain Brandon McGrady got the Cowboys to 26-8 with 30 minutes remaining. Then Oakey lifted and scored four converted tries in the next 20 minutes to lead 32-26.
It was an amazing period with Ash Taylor’s depth in goal kicking tremendous.
Joey Alberts scored four tries on the back of Taylor’s influence.
But Warwick hung in and backed themselves to score a last minute try.
