Latest AED in Pittsworth

The Pittsworth Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) has recently installed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for public use outside the Police Station in Yandilla Street.

Residents will be aware that in recent years, the Pittsworth LAC has installed defibrillators throughout the town as part of a community health project.

LAC funding has provided AEDs to schools, churches and sporting groups.

These organisations are committed to maintaining the AEDs from their own funds.

While the LAC said it hopes the machines will never be used, the project has meant a wide safety-net for the community, with the groups holding the AEDs committed to making them available to all in the event of an emergency.

The latest addition to the safety net is the installation of an LAC provided and maintained AED available for public use-at-need on a 24-hour, seven days a week basis – something which our groups cannot guarantee.

Courtesy of the Justice Department and the Queensland Police Service, the AED has been mounted on the Pittsworth Police Station wall in Yandilla Street, in an alarmed box easily opened at time of need.

Sited by the Police Station entry steps, it is clearly illuminated by street lighting and the police sign.
