Bookings for the course were snapped up quickly and it was adjudged that more should be held officially.

Darling Downs Superintendent Doug McDonald said it was important that young drivers learned how to be comfortable when interacting with police on the road.

Forty students, learner drivers and supervisors, attended the night with several travelling from the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions for the seminar and practical instruction session.

The learner drivers then had the chance to undergo a specialised learner driving course alongside Highway Patrol police and emergency service vehicles in a secure environment.
