Let’s Peek At Our Hall Renovations
Contractors have been busy working on the Allora Community Hall however the rain seems to have slowed down progress this week.
The Manager of Community Services for the Southern Downs Regional Council, Michael Bell provides details on the remedial work that is being undertaken.
“However, like all building projects, this one has also thrown up its challenges, with the septic tank that treats the wastewater from the building being found buried 100mm under the footpath (see right picture)," Mr Bell said.
"This identification, including the works required for the adjoining footpath, has highlighted the reason the toilets have had to be closed temporarily, being due to the lack of appropriate pedestrian access to the toilets and pedestrian safety in this area generally."
The building is expected to be safe and ready for community access later in the year.
