Local boys selected for Queensland
Daniel Burge and Tom Campbell, from Vale View and Hodgson Vale respectively, will take to the pitch in Cairns at the Australian Under 18 National Championships for hockey.

The two are among an impressive figure of six from the Toowoomba Hockey Association to be selected for the Queensland mens side, which will compete from 6-14 April.
Matt Cook, hockey manager at Toowoomba Hockey Association, said the boys had been training very hard over the Christmas holidays and excelled in the trials, held in February.
“I’m incredibly proud of the efforts of those boys,” he said.
Mr Cook said Daniel, who plays as a goalkeeper, has had a strong junior career.
“He’s been in representative teams in under 12s, 15s and 18s, playing really well the whole time,” he said.
This is the last year of junior hockey for Daniel, who is 17, meanwhile Tom is only 16.
“It’s a fantastic achievement to make the team a year up,” Mr Cook said.
“He’s a midfielder who has a great ability to read the play as it comes, following in his father’s footsteps who played for the Queensland Blades in the 90s.”
