Local Talent Shines at Goomburra Town Hall
More than 70 people gathered at Goomburra Town Hall recently to enjoy an outstanding afternoon of live music featuring local singer-songwriter Clare Cowley.

The afternoon opened with a delightful performance by The Fern Sisters, two talented sisters who share their love of music through beautiful harmonies and heartfelt performances.
During intermission, guests enjoyed refreshments prepared by Goomburra Town Hall volunteers. Funds raised through hall hire and catering will help meet the ongoing costs of maintaining and operating this much-loved community facility.
The second half of the afternoon featured the highly anticipated performance by Clare Cowley. Accompanied by her piano, Clare captivated the audience with her velvety voice, heartfelt song writing and engaging stage presence.
The audience was charmed by Clare’s rendition of a couple of French songs, including a unique version of “Happy Birthday,” which she performed while sketching a portrait of her young nephew - a delightful display of her many artistic talents.
Clare paid tribute to the people who have influenced her musical journey, acknowledging mentors John Denny and Lesley Telford, who was her music teacher, along with her parents, John and Cathy Cowley, and her siblings, noting that music has always been part of their family.
One of the highlights came when Clare invited her father, John Cowley, to join her on stage for a duet. Although John modestly claimed he was “a little rusty,” the audience clearly disagreed, rewarding the pair with warm applause.
Clare has received recognition through a Queensland Music Awards nomination and she joins the long list of remarkable people from the Allora district who have gone on to achieve great things.
The Goomburra Town Hall Committee thanks Clare Cowley, The Fern Sisters, everyone who attended, and the volunteers who helped make the afternoon such a memorable community event.
