Millmerran Show Society celebrates centenary
On Friday, May 16, seventy people attended the Millmerran Show Society's centenary celebration at Carallen Place.

A committee was formed on 23rd March 1924 and the first show was held on 21 April 1925.
Patron Neville Fitzgerald, one of the guest speakers last Friday night, highlighted the expansion of the Show Society throughout the years.
In particular, he mentioned the relocating of the horse stalls, building new cattle stalls, sheep pens, and the erection of a permanent campdraft area and rodeo arena.
Mr Fitzgerald spoke about the successful grant application for the toilet blocks and other necessities.
Mr Fitzgerald summarised the tree planting after the laying of water, and the outstanding effort of James Castles who was president for 28 years.
The other guest speaker on the night was Rose Twidale, who spoke on behalf of six Millmerran locals who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa some months ago.
Tim Antonio was the MC and the guests shared in a delicious birthday cake after their meal.
Carallen Place was the ideal venue for the function.
“There was a friendly atmosphere which was enjoyed by all present,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
