Mine opens doors for Art Group
With the support of a funding grant from New Hope Group, Oakey Art Group has installed a new ‘Staka’ door, replacing the old roller door at their art studio in Stanley Street, in preparation for their upcoming Members Art Exhibition to be held in October.

Group President Anita Polzin says Oakey Art Group members are extremely excited with the installation of the new ‘Staka’ door as it allows more natural light into the studio and also allows easier access for members who have mobility issues or are in a wheelchair.
“Oakey Art Group appreciates the generous community support offered by New Acland Coal in the form of a grant to assist in covering the cost and installation of the ‘Staka’ door,” Ms Polzin said.
The Art Studio is open every Tuesday giving members the opportunity to socialise, create art works, and learn from, or get advice from, each other
New members are always welcome and weekend workshops are held throughout the year by visiting artists.
During the third weekend in November, a watercolour workshop will be conducted by Annett Raff.
Interested parties can follow the Art Group on its Facebook page for updates.
“If you are interested in seeing the various works of art which our members have created, then make sure you visit the Annual Art Exhibition being held at the Studio from 18th until 26th October,” Ms Polzin said.
