Mini Remembrance Day service held in Allora

At 11am on 11 November members of the Allora RSL conducted a service at the front of the Club for the eight attendees.

Charlie Coombs, as he was known in Allora was a World War 11 Prisoner of War. He died on 20/12/43 aged 43. When in Ambon Trevor took the opportunity to visit Charlie’s grave where he placed a red Hibiscus.

The Ode was played and a short speech was given on the history of Remembrance Day.

President Michael Timmer advised that the Allora P-10 State School was not participating this year and being a Tuesday the President did not think the local community would attend.

However they will consider holding a full Remembrance Service next year.
