More than just a meal
Pittsworth Meals on Wheels held its 50th Annual General Meeting on September 23 which was well attended by volunteers and supporters.

President Lyn Wagland, in her annual report, spoke of the many changes in protocols and procedures that the committee has faced over the past twelve months and that will continue with the government changes to Aged Care commencing in November.
She said, “Despite the changes in rules and regulations, Meals on Wheels has remained an essential service in Pittsworth, offered to people who are frail, aged, younger disabled and their carers.”
Lyn Wagland was well supported from those in attendance at the meeting when she reminded all that, “Meals on Wheels was more than just a meal delivery but also offered daily visits to help monitor the health and wellbeing of our clients, especially those who may not see others regularly.”
She continued by saying that the importance of the wellbeing checks cannot be underestimated and that this does not come with frozen meals delivered in a polystyrene box left on the doorstep.
The Meals on Wheels committee for the next 12 months is comprised of Lyn Wagland President, Belinda McKinlay Secretary, Nicole Byford Treasurer and the committee of Jo Saal, Kerry McIntyre, Chris Gordon, Dee Degnian, Ros Von Hoff and Yvonne Coulton.
Lyn Wagland thanked the committee and particularly Belinda McKinlay and Nicole Byford for their dedication and support.
The committee looks forward in 2026 to celebrating fifty years of delivering more than just a meal to residents of Pittsworth.
