New burger joint keeping customers Happie
Since opening on Monday June 29th, Oakey’s newest and only dedicated fast-food outlet Happie Bun has been swamped by demand.

It had always been Jondaryan cook Timmy Singh’s dream to open his own business.
The vacant spot in the arcade opposite Cornetts IGA, provided the perfect spot to make that dream a reality through Happie Bun, Oakey’s newest and only dedicated fast-food outlet.
On its opening day (Monday, June 29), Happie Bun was overwhelmed by demand.
Supported by Timmy’s wife Bethany, friend Harry’s sister Gitica, and brother-in-law Gaurav who runs Café Stellarossa in Toowoomba, the day was a big success.
Three hundred burgers were sold and Timmy’s supplies for the first week were exhausted.
Two weeks down the track, customers continue to come in and four staff are now employed.
Happie Bun’s point of difference is that food is cooked fresh from a hotplate, not deep fried and kept in a hot box.
While this approach means that wait times are longer than other food outlets (they can be between 20 and 50 minutes depending on
the time of day), customers have adapted to the routine, and are ringing ahead to order.
Others order their food, do their shopping at Cornetts IGA, and come back later for their meal.
The news about Happie Bun is starting to spread.
Last week, one person travelled specifically from Toowoomba to give it a go.
A visiting tradesperson from Brisbane had his lunch break there after hearing about it online.
If things go well, Timmy would like to open more Happie Bun franchises.
For now, his attention is firmly on Oakey customers.
Happie Bun is open six days a week, from Mondays to Fridays, 8am-2pm, 4pm-8pm and on Saturdays from 10am-7pm.
