The Clifton Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) has a new President with local businessman Steven Hicks taking over the role.

Secretary Leanne Harrigan and Treasurer Anne Pedersen were re-elected unopposed.
Mrs Harrigan will join committee member Nina Buttsworth as coordinators of the RESQ R000 program.
The QAS (Queensland Ambulance Service) RESQ R000 program teaches children from Prep to Year 6 how to identify, prevent and respond to events including accidents and medical emergencies, including external bleeding, burns, allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), asthma, low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), seizures; Bites and stings fro ticks, bees, wasps and ants, snakes and spiders, stonefish, bullrout, jellyfish, blue-ringed octopus and cone shell.
It also teaches them how to remember their personal contact details, how to call Triple Zero (000; how to do CPR or use a defibrillator (AED).
The program is run for different age groups: Prep to Year 1, Year 2 to 3, Year 4 to 6 and aligns with the Education Queensland Health and Physical Education Syllabus.
The Clifton LAC is also preparing to participate in the QAS Trauma Teddy program, where volunteers and community groups donate knitted or handmade teddy bears to comfort children during emergencies.
Committee member Kellie Brady has been given the job of coordinating that venture locally.
In her annual report, retiring president Anne Glasheen outlined a very busy year for the LAC.
“In February we participated in the Clifton Connect display at the Senior Citizens,” Mrs Glasheen said.
“This year we have presented on Snake Bites at the Allora Seniors morning Tea and also the Warwick Probus Club.
“Both these demonstrations were will received by those members.
“This year also saw the placement of a memorial plaque on the Toowoomba remembrance wall for our late member Terry Davis. A fitting tribute for his years of voluntary service.”
Mrs Glasheen said the LAC also attended the Ute and Boot Markets when available.
“In June a number of us did our CPR Training and First Aid Training and we are now up to date to start the R e s R000’s training in the schools,” she said.
“In the last couple of years the focus for Local Ambulance Committees is educating the public on first aid and CPR.
“It is all about members of the public providing first aid/CPR in those vital minutes when waiting for an ambulance.
“Going forward I believe we are all keen to be involved with RESQ R000s program with the children.”
“We are a small band and hopefully we do make a difference in our community.”
