Deepti Rajguru hails from Vancouver, Canada.

She describes her home town with affection as a place where “you can surf and ski on the same day, and have coffee and maple syrup pancakes.”

Deepti studied a Bachelor of Health Science at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, and has spent the past 4 years at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.

“Australia is different, but in a good way,” she says when asked about the difference between the two countries.

“There is a better work/life balance here.”

Deepti likes going outdoors, but one mental barrier to this is that she is not familiar with identifying the spiders and snakes here in Australia.

In her spare time, she also enjoys cooking and planting.

Deepti hopes to go into women’s health or the field of paediatrics (Youth Health).

She has applied for Australian citizenship.

Matthew was born in Singapore and has always wanted to work in medicine.

He has been studying Health Science at the University of Queensland.

In Matthew’s spare time, he enjoys hiking and playing video games on the Steam platform.

He hopes to stay in Australia long term, as he has a fiancée in Toowoomba.

Ochre Medical Centre has welcomed new registrars for several years across both Oakey and Kingsthorpe practices.

Previous registrars in recent times have included Sarah Hamad, Tom Crawley-Smith, Zoe Grantham, Alex Schreiber and Ben Worrall.

Of these, Dr Ben Worrall is still works at Ochre and is based in Oakey.
