In his President’s report, David Cooper listed a number of projects the Chamber is currently working on:

Carnival of Flowers Float:

“This year we are working with the Oakey High School again. It’s looking to be another successful entry and (an) opportunity to showcase Oakey in the Toowoomba Region.”

Business Networking Events:

“Beginning in March, we have started a monthly business networking evening, giving businesses an opportunity to host an event and talk about their business. Attendees receive valuable information, while networking with community groups. So far we have received positive feedback.”

Oakey Town Information Website:

“After successfully obtaining a $5000 grant from TRC, we have begun the process of building a website with a local business. It is due to be completed within the next few weeks.”

Business Leadership training:

“After successfully being accepted to receive a $5000 grant from Council to assist local businesses with training for owners and staff, we have been working with a trainer to create a training plan. This will occur once a month for three months.”

Why Leave Town gift cards:

“After the initial work of finding funding by the previous committee, we have on-boarded 10 businesses, with more interested in joining. This will keep more money in Oakey.”

Auspicing:

“We have become an auspicing body to support community groups. So far, we have assisted the Oakey Church Groups to hold the Community BBQ.”
