Oakey float needs your help

The Oakey Chamber of Commerce (OCoC) is looking for assistance to help maximise the quality of Oakey community’s float entrance for the 2023 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.


Last year’s Oakey float showcased our town by incorporating local business shop fronts amongst a gorgeous array of flowers.

OCoC is looking for businesses, community groups, schools and individuals to consider donating or contributing in some way to this year’s float.

The float has taken part in the carnival for a few years now and showcases Oakey to the wider world.

The theme this year is ‘Busy as a Bee!’ 

OCoC is excited to demonstrate to the wider Darling Downs region the great community spirit that Oakey embodies and rally together to make the 2023 Oakey float the best it has ever produced. 

To make this possible,the Chamber is looking for help through donations of a few items or making a financial contribution towards the purchase of the items.

They are: 

• Large hexagonal cardboard boxes 

• Plaster of Paris

• Plywood

• Cellophane in black, yellow or orange

• Poster paint in black, yellow or orange 

• Wire 

• Chicken wire 

• Lettuce seeds 

• Astro turf 

• Green hose without attachments 

• Plastic storage tubs to 

store items between 

Carnival of Flowers parades
