Oakey raised Tish is World Skydiving Champion again

Oakey-raised Natisha Dingle has won the individual women's title at the FAI World Skydiving Championships in Austria.

Individually, Dingle set an Oceanian record of 497.31km/h in the women’s event, in which she beat out compatriot Tanita Rutherford.

She thanked Rutherford for pushing her on to greater heights.

“Massive shout out to Tanita Rutherford for keeping me on my toes all competition,” she said.

“Tanita flew very consistently - well done!

“This is the closest competition I have experienced which is great to help build my mindset for future competitions.

“I’m proud to be bringing home gold for fourth year in a row for the female world class competitions in speed skydiving.”

In the mixed team event, Dingle set a world record for Australia with Mervyn O’Connell, recording a highest average speed of 507.58km/hour, beating out Tanita Rutherford and Simon Walsh.

The Oakey-raised world champion said she loves representing Australia.

“I am very proud of our strong team and Australia has been the country to beat for the last two years,” she said.

“It makes it even sweeter that all of the Australian team collected some bling this year.

“I’m excited about punching the limits even further for next year in Arizona.”

There was another world record for Australia in the men’s team event with Mervyn O’Connell, Simon Walsh and Heath Baird, recording a winning highest average speed time of 506.13 km/hour.

This year’s competition in Austria was the biggest yet, with 61 competitors, of which 18 were female.
