Former clerk, solicitor and community figure Rodney Teevan has died at the age of 83.

Rodney Teevan was born in Brisbane on 19th March, 1943.
He spent his earliest years in Mitchell before his family moved to Roma.
After leaving the convent school, Rod started working in law as a junior clerk at the Roma Courthouse in 1959 at just 15 years of age.
His great passion was rugby league and he played with the Cities and Wattles clubs in Roma, where he played with Arthur Beetson, and with the Booval Swifts in Ipswich.
Rod’s career as a clerk took him to Ipswich, Gympie, Charleville, and Sandgate.
On 27th November 1965 he married wife Jill.
In a steady career rise, he was promoted to depositions clerk, Clerk of the Court and Stipendiary Magistrate while studying and qualifying as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1969.
Another one of Rod’s passions was horse racing.
One of his greatest triumphs was when a horse of his, Pyramid Peak won the Bundaberg Cup.
Rod filled the role of Clerk of the Court for Oakey from 1970 to 1987.
During his time in Oakey, Rod Teevan was Treasurer of the Oakey & District Race Club for 11 years and played a part in running the first Ladies Race in country Queensland in 1975.

After 29 years in the Justice Department he commenced work with Wonderley & Hall Solicitors in 1988.
With over 26 years of service there, he was responsible for the opening of the Oakey branch of Wonderley & Hall in 2000 where his association with local people continued as legal advisor and as a friend of many.
His children became renowned for their athletic feats, Rohan and Craig as rugby league footballers and Michelle as a bodybuilder.
In later years, Rod continued his interest in horse racing in Toowoomba.
His most successful horse was Tears of Love which won a Warwick Cup and Roma Cup, and four races in Brisbane.
“Rod was a really keen lover of sport of all types, especially rugby league and racing,” horse trainer Matt Kropp reflected.
“He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable of both those sports.”
