It was proud families galore at Clifton State High School on Monday morning, 17 November, as the 2025 Annual Awards Ceremony saw exceptional students from Years 7 to 12 acknowledged and the school leaders for 2026 announced.

The school’s fairly new hall was packed with students, staff, families and community members who, on a windy day, were glad they were inside safe from the elements.

It was the first awards ceremony for Principal Ros Hibberd, who had taken over during the year from Tracy Kirby.

Ms Hibberd congratulated the students for their achievements this year, which included academic and extra-curricular success.

She said many students have completed extra subjects through the Brisbane School of Distance Education and universities.

An impressive 87 per cent of Year 12 students completed one vocational course and 62 per cent completed two or more.

Dignitaries in attendance included Member for Condamine Pat Weir, Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald,  Councillors Carol Taylor, Trevor Manteufel and Edwina Farquhar and former Councillor Anne Glasheen.

Representing the CSHS P&C, Leanne Ridley provided a report on what the P&C has been doing.

She said this year through a wide variety of fundraisers the P&C has supported the human powered vehicle team, a ski trip, financially disadvantaged students and students attending state and national events, for sports and other fields.

The P&C contributed $10,000 in funds to the school’s administration office move.

With an influx of higher enrolment numbers in recent years, the P&C plans to extend the tuckshop and uniform shop in the future.

As is usually the case, the School Dux will be announced early next year once all assessments and grades have been finalised.
