Pacific Seeds infrastructure investment to support future growth
Pacific Seeds, the Australian seeds business operated by Advanta Seeds Pty Ltd has announced plans to move to a larger site, marking the next step in the company’s long-term investment in Australian agriculture.
The new facility intends to provide upgraded research, processing and distribution infrastructure, with an aim to support growing demand in both Australian and export markets.
It is being established on the fast-developing Wellcamp industrial estate, north of the Toowoomba By-pass, adjacent to the Pulse Data Centre.
The Pacific Seeds complex at Harristown was once a site on the edge of town but it has, over time, become part of the Toowoomba landscape as the city has expanded around it.
Pacific Seeds’ Managing Director Andrew Short said the decision followed careful planning around the future needs of growers and the business.
“After several decades at our current premises, this investment is made with the intention of helping Pacific Seeds continue to be well placed and aiming to support the continued growth of Australian agriculture,” Mr Short said.
“The new site will provide the space, increased capacities and modern technologies to operate more efficiently and to keep improving the way we support growers.”
Preliminary works for this new facility are currently underway. This new facility represents an upgrade for customers, providing greater storage, processing and warehousing capacity to support reliable supply as demand grows. New research and development facilities will ensure the business has the infrastructure and capabilities to adapt alongside growers, ensuring products and services continue to meet changing seasonal conditions, technologies and market needs.
“Growers’ needs don’t stand still,” Mr Short said.
“This investment gives us the flexibility to adapt, invest in innovation and support future growth with confidence.”
This project intends to demonstrate Advanta Enterprises Limited’s (Advanta Seeds Pty Ltd’s parent) on-going commitment to regional Australia and seeing Australian growers prosper.
