Passing of Allora Stalwart
Kenneth (Ken) Muir, well known for his strong involvement in the local community passed away on 13 June 2026 after a heroic battle with illness. Ken belonged to many organisations but his passion was volunteering for the Allora Show Society.
Late of Toowoomba and Allora Ken had devoted himself to family, farming and community. He was involved in sport, tennis, cricket, Allora Rifle Club, Junior farmers, Allora SES and service clubs.
Life member, President and treasurer of Allora Apex Club, President and treasurer of Allora Rotary Club. Life member of Allora Show Society, President, treasurer, Chief steward for the Stud Cattle British breeds and Prime cattle.
Ken’s love of the Allora Show Society was obvious with his hours of volunteering, loading his little tractor to spray weeds and dig holes for projects.
Being there when the poultry shed crept across the grounds to its present site, when the sale yards and selling ring quietly passed unnoticed through town, when the foundations for the canteen were laid, rolling up fences ruined by flood and much more. Ken was rewarded by ‘smoko’ and a yarn with the mighty volunteers.
The Showgirls and their fundraising were special, he often hosted the judges and judging and make a special effort supporting the girls in Toowoomba.
Ken’s love of the showground was to keep the gates open welcoming future events for the Allora community - Allora the Best Little Town on the Downs.
Memorial Morning Tea to Honour the life of Ken Muir
The Allora Show Society invites our community to come together at the Allora Showgrounds for a Memorial Morning Tea in loving memory of our much-valued member, Ken Muir.
All who knew Ken, loved him. He was one of those special people who left a mark on everyone he met — through his kindness, his humour, his stories, and the way he made people feel welcome. Ken had a way of bringing people together, whether it was for a yarn over a cuppa, a laugh shared at the grounds, or simply lending a hand where it was needed. He will be deeply missed.
We shall gather this Sunday 5th July at 11:30am, and join together in remembering and honouring Ken’s life.
This will be a time to share stories, reflect, and celebrate the memories we all hold. If you would like to say something, please feel free — your words and memories are welcome. We will also share a coffee, a chat, and the kind of good company Ken always enjoyed being part of.
This morning tea is not just to say goodbye, but to celebrate a life well lived, a friend well loved, and a presence that will remain in the heart of our community.
