PCYC Makes a Splash at Allora
Southern Downs Regional Council has awarded PCYC Queensland a three-year contract to operate the Allora Pool.

Known for its commitment to youth development, sport and recreation, PCYC has a wealth of experience and a strong community focus, and will manage the facility to deliver high-quality aquatic programs with a view to expand the service offering.
Council’s spokesperson for Active Communities Cr Russell Wantling welcomed the appointment and said PCYC’s vision for the facility aligned with the community’s.
“This is a positive and strategic outcome for the Allora community and it brings certainty to the future operations of the Allora Pool,” Cr Wantling said.
“PCYC has a proven track record of delivering exceptional aquatic services and engaging youth projects across the state, and we’re excited to see their expertise and energy brought to Allora.
“Council looks forward to working closely with PCYC Queensland to ensure the Allora Pool continues to thrive as a recreational hub for the local community.”
PCYC will offer a diverse range of programs at the pool, including learn to swim classes, squad training, aquatic fitness sessions, as well as providing aquatic employment opportunities.
As part of its broader social impact initiatives, PCYC will explore the opportunity to introduce a free monthly ‘Drop-In’ youth program at the adjacent basketball court.
It will provide a safe and welcoming space for young people to connect, engage in recreational activities and access mentorship opportunities for stronger community ties and positive development.
The contract will commence on 31 August 2025 and run through to 30 August 2028, with the option for a further three-year extension. Council looks forward to a successful partnership that will benefit Allora residents and ensure the pool remains a central hub for health, learning and community connection.
The pool is scheduled to re-open for the upcoming season on 1 October 2025 and opening hours will be confirmed once finalised.
The Allora Swimming Club has welcomed PCYC as the new operator of the Allora Swimming pool.
“We are looking forward to working with the PCYC to help deliver our club night program and other events,” Club member Andrew Moore said.
“The Allora pool is a wonderful community hub, so we are excited to see that it will be operated by an organisation that is community minded.”
The Allora Swimming Club Annual General Meeting will be held on 2nd September, and all members are welcome to attend.
