Pittsworth Alliance reflects on year, elects new president
Rhonda Ashton was elected the new president of the Pittsworth Alliance at the Annual General Meeting.
Mrs Ashton replaces Bob Holzheimer who moves into the non-executive role of Business Liaison.
In his President’s Report Mr Holzheimer said the organisation’s membership renewals stayed strong again at 103 including platinum members, large and small business members, clubs, schools and individuals.
Here’s some of his report to the meeting:
“After last years AGM the Alliance began getting the wheels in motion and moving forward again - setting out a plan for the year ahead.
“I can say looking back now it has been a very rewarding year.
“The Alliance has hosted three great business breakfasts this past year, these breakfasts have been very well supported with 60 guests attending our most recent breakfast in May.
“We always appreciate the councillors and public that support us at our breakfasts, may I add Cr Kerry Shine is almost classed as a fixture at our breakfast functions.
“Our breakfast back in September 2022 saw Annie’s House Pittsworth an NDIS provider gave us a great insight into what happens within the new business.
“Thanks for setting up in Pittsworth.
“Ray White Rural Pittsworth gave a presentation as well.
“Our February breakfast this year we had Connie Arundel from Cystic Fibrosis Australia give an insight into life before and after a double lung transplant.
“Ian Cattell gave an update on the new housing estate development on Margetts Street, Pittsworth
“Our most recent breakfast on June 20, the Qantas Pilot Academy in conjunction with FTA Queensland gave a very informative presentation of what it takes to enrol as a student and leave as a qualified pilot ready to spread their wings across the world.
“The Pittsworth Women’s shed gave an insight into their activities.
“Including a local business owner or owners to speak and present at our breakfasts still proves to be popular with the audience.
“We do greatly appreciate every speaker that presents and gives freely of their time to come and engage with the audience.
“December 2022 saw another great community Christmas in the Park at Centenary Park.
“Mums and Dads love the fact our entertainment on the night is free to the children...
“We don’t go too far in life before we learn, nothing is free, as a result The Pittsworth District Alliance appreciates every sponsor’s contribution to help make our biggest night of the year so successful.
“Thanks to our local member Pat Weir and TRC for their generous support towards our Christmas in the Park.
“Santa’s lolly supply was once again endless, throwing lollies out to the great crowd of children.
“The Alliance appreciates the great lolly supply provided by Pittsworth Confectionery helping put children and adults in the festive mood.
“The hard work of Rhonda Ashton and her team for the Elf On The Shelf competition proved very popular and brought a smile to the winning kid’s faces.
“Light up a tree competition was very well supported again this year.
“Thank you to Gardens of the Downs for supplying the Pittsworth Dollar Card prizes for the winners of this competition
“The Pittsworth Dollar Card programme continues to gain popularity.
“The 13th of August marked nine years since the launch of the programme.
“In the nine years the dollar card programme has loaded six hundred thousand dollars. It is rewarding knowing that this amount of money has been kept in our local economy.
“Our latest Dollar card store PriceBusters joined the programme this past week.
“The Showcasing Pittsworth event held in conjunction with Gardens of the Downs in April this year proved to be a well patronised event.
“Shops in the main street reported great sales with Saturdays trading.
“This event is planned for April again next year
“The Mother’s Day flower corsages given out along the street the day before Mother’s day brought many a smile to the Mothers on the receiving end.
“What a massive effort by all the volunteers who came to the Hotel Motel to put together some 451 arrangements.
“Well done to all involved.
“The Alliance greatly appreciates every dollar we secure from successful grant applications, thankyou to the TRC for their ongoing support and Federal and State Governments as well.”
