Pittsworth Show Society welcomes new President
Amanda Riehl is the first female to take on the Presidency of the Pittsworth Show Society after being elected at the committee’s recent Annual General Meeting which saw Paul Fuhlbohm hang up his hat after two years in the role.
“Firstly, I am truly humbled to be entrusted with the role of President and to help lead our committee in delivering the very best show possible for our members, patrons, competitors, trade holders, volunteers and everyone who comes through our gates,” Ms Riehl said.
She thanked Mr Fuhlbohm for his dedication and hard work, and said she is looking forward to his continued support and involvement within the Show community.
After his decision not to stand for President again, Mr Fuhlbohm said he does intend to assist the new committee where practical, with his wife Sammie, continuing as Show Secretary.
In his President’s report, Mr Fuhlbohm recapped the last year and touched on the resilience of the committee.
“Our management committee is becoming smaller as some of our long-standing members have stepped aside, leaving many jobs to a smaller group,” he said.
“We need to boost our committee with new perspectives and fresh ideas.”
Mr Fuhlbohm highlighted the well-deserved Life Memberships of Jenny Green and Lyn Pearce, and the depth of talent in the community who participated in the Showgirl and Rural Ambassador movement.
He thanked Barry Standing from the Pittsworth Campdraft Association for his efforts in maintaining the showgrounds.
Above all, Mr Fuhlbohm called on the community to involve themselves in the local show.
“I encourage anyone to get involved for a few years to see the many facets of running a show, I believe nothing else combines so much of our community, involving people from all walks of life,” Mr Fuhlbohm said.
“Innovation and imagination are the key in keeping the traditions from so many years, and link them into new ideas for the future.
“That can only happen if we encourage and support the next generation of our community to showcase the best we have to offer.”
The Pittsworth Show Society is holding a special general meeting on Tuesday, 16th June, to fill important positions on the management committee.
They are seeking nominations for committee Secretary (different from Show Secretary) and Treasurer, with Alyce Murphy and Jenny Green stepping down from those roles.
These positions are vital to the ongoing operation of the Pittsworth Show Society and planning of the 2027 Show.
Without these roles being filled, the Show Society will not be able to operate in accordance with its Rules of Governance.
The special general meeting will be held in the Show Office at the showgrounds, commencing at 6.30pm.

“We are a team and as the saying goes, there is no ‘I’ in teamwork,” Ms Riehl said.
“It truly takes a village, whether that means helping with ice runs, ensuring gates are open for patrons, assisting exhibitors, volunteering in a section, or simply lending a helping hand wherever needed.
“Every contribution, no matter how big or small, plays an important role in the success of our Show.
“Respect, teamwork and community spirit are values I hope we can all continue to uphold as we move forward together.”
Ms Riehl said she was looking forward to working alongside the committee to build on the strong foundations already in place and continue to make the Pittsworth Show an event our community can be proud of.
Mr Fuhlbohm also wanted to acknowledge the dedication of the late Betty Denning OAM, and her contribution to the Show Society.
“Betty was a wonderful woman, who with her husband Tom and a few others, welcomed young volunteers (as I was back then), to the Pittsworth Show Society with laughter, support, hard work and terrific morning teas,” he said.
“Betty’s presence will be missed, and I extend the Show Society’s condolences to Betty’s family.”
