“Over recent months, there has been an increase in the instances of graffiti occurring about the area; not so much in town, but on the outskirts and around Hendon, Deuchar and Mount Marshall,” Officer-In-Charge Sergeant Damian Grace said.

By-and-large the “tags” are being made on the roadway, but also over road signs.

“While not offensive in terms of language at this time, these depictions can be visually offensive, distracting and of course, causing damage particularly to the road signs,” Sergeant Grace said.

“In some cases, the graffiti on the signs is causing distortion or obstruction as to the reasons the signs are there; e.g. warnings of road ending ahead, speed, or approach to an intersection and the like.

“This then means the actions of the ‘taggers’ could be putting road users at risk.”

Sergeant Grace urged anyone who has any information as to the identity of the people involved, to contact Allora Police direct on 4666 3222 or provide details anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on
1800 333 000.
