Players from across Queensland enjoyed two grades of polo, battling it out for the top spot in each grade.

The Black Toyota B grade final saw visiting team, Only Commercial, take on local team Downs Webster Cavanagh.

The Only Commercial side, made up of players Sandra Carder, Chris Slack, Graham Mann and Antonio Savedra, took to the field to face Downs Webster Cavanagh, a side consisting of local players Pip Gilmore, Declan O’Rourke, Shaun O’Rourke and Charlie Field (Goondiwindi).

The game was hard fought but it would be the Only Commercial side who would take an early lead and hold that lead throughout the match to take the win in the Black Toyota B Grade competition.

The AEW Horsewalkers A Grade final would also see local team Downs Hooper Accountants, made
up of players Derek Gilmore, Richard Marchant, Paul MacGinley and Jack Mantova, take on visiting team, Colliers, made up of players Jess Beirne, Simon Beirne, Wayne Glennie and Damian Allport.

The AEW Horsewalkers A Grade final was a thriller, with both teams giving it their all.

On the day it was local side, Downs Hooper Accountants, that would snatch the win after a head to head battle on the polo field for the top spot.

The Downs Polo Club is looking forward to an action-packed polo season here in Clifton, with a total of eight fixtures on the calendar this year.

Polo returns to the Clifton recreation grounds this weekend, followed by the Downs Polo Club Picnic at the Polo set for Sunday 28th April.

The event promises to be a fun-filled day for all the family.

Although all reserved car boot space tickets have sold, general admission to the event is free with space within the grandstand, under marquees and designated sideline picnic spots available to enjoy.
