The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) commenced work this month on the close to four kilometre long section of the New England Highway between Darling Street, Allora and Hancock Lane, Mount Marshall.

The project involves upgrading the existing road pavement to improve road strength and durability and extend the road’s life span.

The rehabilitation works aim to improve road safety and provide a better driving experience for road users.

Work is expected to be completed by November 2025, followed by a final seal in March 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Works will be undertaken from Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm.

During works, residents may experience:

Disruption to property accesses near the work site, however, access will be maintained under controlled conditions.

Changed traffic conditions including 40km/h speed restrictions, lane closures and short delays.

Reversing beepers, flashing lights and lighting towers will be used during work hours as they are important safety requirements.

Construction noise and dust may be experienced from machinery used during construction.
