“It is a timely reminder to remind residents to continue to report incidents to the Department of Housing and their local Member (of Parliament).”

COMMUNITY COMMENT

Police still observe a large number of speeding offences on the Highway and around town.

The Oakey School zone is heavily signed, yet many people fail to adhere to the 40 km/h school zone.

I ask all motorists to consider the area, consider the erratic movements of young children and drive to the conditions.

Oakey Police have recently had an additional four Officers trained and all are now qualified in speed detection and radar devices.

Their qualifications exponentially increase the safety of the community and enable Police to broaden their coverage across the Division to deter and detect speeding and traffic related offending.

The new Oakey Officers will be out and about in town and are heavily invested in serving our community.

It is also timely to remind everyone, that Easter is fast approaching.

Please ensure that you are planning your trips and allow sufficient time to get to your destination.

There’s a number of prevention and enforcement strategies planned as we move toward the holiday season.

Please, stay safe, drive to the conditions, and never drive tired or whilst affected by an intoxicating substance.
