Twelve students and three steers made the trip down from the foot of the Bunya Mountains to the Exhibition Showgrounds in Brisbane.

The team picked up third placed in the carcass competition for the open setters, along with second overall in the “Hoof and Harness” category.

The steer finished fifth in the junior-led category.

The team also made the final for the paraders.

Ag Team Co-ordinator Brooke Cuddihy said that it had been an eye-opening week for the students.

“They did exceptionally well and enjoyed the chance to see what the other schools were doing in the big arena,” she said.

“We also got the chance to attend an AgForce career opportunities snapshot which was really insightful.

“Living in a high-rise building for a few days was also a highlight.

“Going up and down in a lift was something not all of them had done before.”

Quinalow hopes to return to the Ekka next year.
