Restored to its former glory

Just over six months after it was destroyed by a car, the Cambooya War Memorial has been reconstructed and again stands prominently at the end of Eton Street.

The new structure is a replica of the old war memorial that had stood in its place since 1921.

The memorial was severely damaged when struck by a motor vehicle in late May.

Toowoomba Regional Council, working with the RSL and a local supplier, re-built the memorial from the base upwards.

The restored memorial will be well and truly ready before next year’s Cambooya Anzac Day service, attended by Cambooya State School and often other schools.
