Rising campdraft talents converge on Pittsworth
The High School Campdraft Percentile Cup was hosted in Pittsworth over the weekend, attracting over 260 competitors from 43 schools.

Many residents would have noticed the influx of visitors to our town over the weekend, as the Hotel Motel, Club Pittsworth and Bowls Club were flooded with patrons looking for a feed after a long day working under the sun.
One visitor commented on the atmosphere in Pittsworth, describing it as “mind-blowing” and the locality of our businesses to the Showgrounds as “just fantastic”.
The campdraft began on Friday and concluded around lunch time on Sunday.
There were over 510 first round runs which meant the Showground was the temporary home to an average of 540 horses.
The owner of the old Pittsworth Cheese Factory (behind the Showgrounds) graciously allowed some of the campers to park their vehicles on the grassed land beside the old factory.
Volunteers from the Pittsworth and District Campdraft Association operated the canteen and bar.
The grounds were looking immaculate thanks to the efforts of well-known stalwart of the local campdraft association, Barry Standing.
All year round, Mr Standing works to ensure the grounds are always in mint condition.
The endless amount of mowing, (especially this time of year), whipper snipping, spraying, and setting up of the yard panels for the High School Campdraft was a labour of love, but Barry would not have it any other way.
A spokesperson for the Pittsworth and District Campdraft Association said the event was fantastic for the town and a display of community support.
“It’s showcasing our great town, and others are finding it a great place to live.
“In the last two years, four properties in the immediate area have been purchased by people who visited Pittsworth for campdrafting events.
“They love the area,” the spokesperson said.
The team winner of the Ariat High School Campdraft was Fairholme College with an average of 87 points.
Equal second and third place went to Kilcoy State High School and All Souls St. Gabriels School (Richmond Hill) with an average of 86.33 points each.
Pittsworth State High School competed and was described as looking very smart and competitive.
The other winners of the High School Campdraft Percentile Cup were as follows:
Conduct and Sports-manship Award - St. Margaret’s Anglican Girls School.

Best Presented Team - Capricornia School of Distance Education.

Hughes Pastoral Company Round Two Winners - Ellie Michelle (1st), Peyton Kane (1st), Louie Bull (2nd) and Michala Maslen (2nd).
