Rockabilly takes over Emu Creek
The Emu Creek State School community has been transported back to the 50s as the students prepared a song and dance routine that is a blast from the past.

With the help of drama teacher Susan Murphy, all of the Emu Creek students from prep up to year 6 were in a ‘Rock and Roll Revival’ performance.
After over 40 years as a teacher, this is Ms Murphy’s last production.
Fittingly, Rock and Roll Revival is her own original work and she has spent the past few years refining it.
Those who are old enough to remember the 1950s, as well as those who are familiar with its pop culture through films such as Grease and Elvis will be familiar with many of the elements of the production, such as the costumes, songs and dialogue.
The cast, all played by students, includes Frankie Avalon, Peggy Sue, the Emu Chicks cheerleaders, junior rockers, little rockabillies, cool cats, twisters and chicks and greasers.
There are even rumours that the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll entered the building...
Also on show was Brylcreem and Blue Suede Shoes.
The Emu Creek students have spent the past few weeks rehearsing for their big performance which took place at the school’s Annual Awards night on Wednesday.
The school is sad to see Ms Murphy retire and is very thankful for her hard work and dedication during her time at the school.
