Sadie’s Day Out a touching tribute

The Cambooya community rallied together on Saturday, 7 June to honour the memory of Sadie, who would have turned six years old that day.

Sadie, a Cambooya State School student, tragically died in a car crash at Vale View several weeks ago.

Co-organiser of Sadie’s Day Out, Kelly Sutton, said  community spirit was alive and thriving during the fundraiser, where an incredible $10,000 was raised to support a local family during a difficult time.

“The day was filled with joy, laughter, and overwhelming generosity from both individuals and local businesses,” Ms Sutton said.

“A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many local businesses who contributed by donating essential items including bread, vegetables, salads, meat, and even equipment like bain-maries and slushy machines.

“Their generosity played a key role in making the event such a success.

“Children were at the heart of the day, with many enjoying a rare opportunity to simply have fun and be kids - setting aside worries and sadness, if only for a little while.

“The festivities included a giant slide, a bull riding machine, pig races, raffles, delicious hot food and drinks, fairy floss, and a bake sale. It was a day of community connection, laughter, and shared purpose.

“This event could not have gone ahead without the support of everyone involved from volunteers to David Wilson, the School Principal.

“Thank you to all who donated, volunteered, and attended - your kindness made a real difference.”
