School is back in session
School resumed this week (27-30 January), and as always, it was an especially meaningful time for the 104 Prep students of our district who stepped into the classroom for the very first time.

Tears were expected (from both students and parents) as the school gates re-opened.
Pittsworth State School welcomed 40 new Prep students on Tuesday, while St. Stephen’s Primary School had 27 join its ranks on Wednesday.
In Millmerran, 20 Prep students began at the State School with 10 fresh new faces at St. Joseph’s Primary School.
A handful of Preppies was welcomed at the smaller schools in our district: Southbrook - 5, Mount Tyson - 3, Brookstead - 1 and Cecil Plains - 3.
Starting school has been made all the more easier for families with the Queensland Government’s Back to School initiative, ensuring students have access to essential school supplies for the year ahead.
For state school students, a $100 credit will be applied to each student’s school account.
Parents and carers can choose to use it on the cost of items or activities offered by the school, such as camps, excursions, incursions and extracurricular activities, stationery, uniforms, or excellence programs.
The non-state school sector will be responsible for administration of the $100, including how it can be applied to reduce fees or other related school costs.
The Back to School Boost is provided once per year.
All students in primary school (Prep-Year 6) are eligible, including children who attend a special school or children enrolled in home education.
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said 895,000 students would be attending schools across Queensland this year.
“It’s wonderful to see the excitement and energy as students return to classrooms across our State,” Mr Langbroek said.
“The Crisafulli Government is delivering a record $21.9 billion Education Budget to make sure every student can access a world-class education and reach their potential.”
