Seven defibrillators across district

The community is much safer thanks to the tireless efforts of the Clifton Local Ambulance Committee (LAC), which has installed seven automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in Clifton and surrounding towns.

Anne Glasheen, President of Clifton LAC, said the defibrillators have been paid for by not-for-profit organisations and businesses.

The outgoing Meals on Wheels committee has paid for two, at Clifton Foodworks (on the wall facing the carpark) and the Nobby Store (outside, under awning).

At the Clifton Pharmacy, there is one  on the outside wall, supported by Cefn Stud.

One in the porch area at the Pilton Hall was paid for by the Crows Nest LAC.

At Greenmount, one has been placed at the
Get Chopped Greenmount Pub and was supported by Nutrien Harcourts Clifton  owners Ian and Kellie Brady.

It is in the outside area near the rear door.

An AED can be found at the Leyburn Post Office, supported by Lions, just under cover at the front steps.

Finally, Allora has now received an AED and it is in place under the awning at the Allora Medical Practice, supported by Landcare.

“All the AEDs will be registered with the Queensland Ambulance Service,” Mrs Glasheen said.

“They are also tracked if need be.

“We ask the communities to be aware of them and if need be, to protect them from any damage.”

Mrs Glasheen said the Clifton LAC has been working on this project for a couple of years.

“The Clifton LAC will now be fundraising for the upkeep of these units,” she said.

“The Clifton LAC will be running CPR Training in these communities in the coming months and also sell first aid kits and snake bite kits.

“Please see us at the Clifton Show.”
