Shenae, who was raised in Oakey, has just finished her teaching degree and is currently playing in the BMD Premiership (Queensland’s state women’s competition) with the Western Clydesdales, with whom she is a co-captain.

Since switching from rugby union, Shenae has been a fixture in Queensland’s State of Origin team and was a member of Australia’s successful 2022 Rugby League World Cup.

Her story began in Oakey, where, against the initial misgivings of father Brett, she convinced her parents to let her play junior rugby league with the Oakey Bears until the age of 12.

Shenae was school captain at Oakey State School.

Her cousin Jada Ferguson, visited Oakey with the NRL Premiership trophies last year.
