Site clearing for new service station
Work has commenced to clear the site for the establishment of a new United service station complex on the New England Highway at Nobby.
The old buildings have been demolished and a deep excavation remains from where the old fuel tanks have been removed.
The new development will be on the site of the Rudd’s Corner Service Station, close to the junction of the Highway and Nobby Connection Road.
The old buildings, which had deteriorated considerably since the closure of the old facility, have been demolished and removed.
All that remains is a deep excavation where fuel tanks were buried.
During the past three years Toowoomba Regional Council has approved the necessary applications to enable the project to proceed.
Plans submitted for the development provide for a large service station including a general fuel forecourt with three banks of pumps as well as a large truck refuelling forecourt, along with a convenience store.
It is proposed to operate the site 24 hours a day.
