The award was presented on Monday, 15 July, at an awards night attended by staff members including owners Shane and Tracy Smith who also run the IGA Pittsworth store.

This award was presented to the best overall store in Australia across a number of categories which included overall Standards, Food Safety, Occupational Safety, Increased Sales, Product Ranging and Price Competitiveness and, most importantly, Customer Satisfaction.

Shane Smith said the award was made possible  not only through the work of the team in the Westbrook store but a huge effort is put in each week by their Pittsworth team, especially the Meat and Bakery teams.

“We cannot thank our whole team enough,” Mr Smith said.

“To be granted the honour of receiving this award was one of the most emotional and exciting experiences of our lives,” IGA Local Grocer Westbrook Shane Smith said.

“Over the last three years the Westbrook store has transformed to become a local hero in the community.

“Our goal with the store was to create a full offer mini supermarket including a large range of all Fresh Foods, Grocery and Perishable items.

“Our amazing team delivers this offer to the local community every day.

“We will continue to improve the store, looking at any opportunity that is presented to us. You can’t beat Local.”
